Love Letters in Yellow (iii)

Lemon might be too much. It is lying

in my fruit bowl for now. Slice it apart.

Take what's inside only if you're trying

to use it well. Let's hope it's not too tart.

I can't change how it sits on your tastebuds.

But your honey can overpower too.

Only so much thirst is quenched from a flood,

and tea is one stir away from undue.

So, mix my sharp with your sweet. It could make

the heartsick hurt less with each mouthful. Or

press hot kisses down your sore throat. Turn ache

to ambrosia, but only if you're sure.

It's here if you want it. Drink the honey

and lemon tea whenever you're ready.
